Whisker Wedneday

As we get ready to head out of town for Mexico this Friday, what to do with Bruce became a big question.

While we were in Colorado, there were two places that catered specifically to cats. One was called The Scratchin' Post (ran by an older lady named Kat--she was crazy and the place was filthy) and the other was called Happy Cat Retreat (ran by an older couple out in the country-ish and was clean). They were places just for cats and each cat got let our of their cage to play with other cats or people. We loved taking Bruce to the second one. They had these lockers that were half indoor and half outdoor. Here is a picture of their cages:

So this was the outside and it was the same on the inside of the building. The outside and inside were connected so that when it was nice outside, the cat could choose to be inside or outside...and Bruce loves to be outside. On a leash of course :) Turns out that no place really exists like that up here (unless you want to pay an arm and a leg and a couple toes). I could really have a business idea here...ANYWAY, we decided to keep him at our home and have family and friends check in on him. That way there is less stress for Bruce and he is in his own home. I may pick up a new toy for him just so that he has something new to play with as well.

I am sure he will do fine as he has been left alone before and has done well with people checking in on him and of course, playing a little bit (a lot) of fetch.

Here is a little snapshot of our play session last night part of my Project 365 challenge.

Im not sure if I am doing a post yet on Friday but if I do, I'll see you then! If not, have a great week and a half and I'll talk to you after a little R & R! :)

Motivational Monday #15

Hello all!

How was your weekend? Mine was good! We went up to Fargo, ND to hang out with friends while we watched our North Dakota State University Bison play in Frisco, TX for another national championship. AND THEY WON!

It was such an intense game, everyone almost had heart attacks. It was such an amazing moment. On Sunday we went to a bridal show (which turned out to not be that helpful) and then drove home.

Now this week we get ready for Cancun, Mexico! I cant believe that it is here already. Time goes by so fast but we are unbelievably ready to get out of town for a week with our dear friends.

This Motivational Monday is all about gratitude.

"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy. They are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom" Marcel Proust - via Lisa Congdon 365 Days of Hand Lettering

As we close a great weekend with close friends and begin a trip this week for Mexico, it really makes me realize how grateful and lucky we are to have such close friends. That our friends have been around for years and how I look forward to spending our life changes with everyone.

Anyway, that's enough mushiness for today...See you on Wednesday!

Whisker Wednesday

Hello all!

Just a short Whisker Wednesday post for you. Bruce is doing well as always. I went out to Petco and bought a 30" scratching post last weekend due to his need to rip up our recliner and he LOVES it. We had one in Colorado but had to throw it due to no room and it being destroyed by him. He absolutely loves to stretch out on it and kick himself in a circle on the floor. I tell ya, so easily amused! Not only that, but he has pretty much lost interest in our recliner. YAY! He has also always loved to cuddle, but with the cold weather he loved it even more! And I guess we don't mind it either ;)

Here are a couple of pictures from the last week:

Happy Hump Day!

Motivational Monday #14

Hello all! Welcome to another (motivational) Monday! As the time gets closer for our trip to Cancun (wahooooo :)), I tried on some clothes last night. These clothes were the exact ones I wore last year when we made the trip to Puerto Vallarta. Guess what? They DO NOT fit at all and by that I mean, they are so tight its like my legs are being suffocated by the shorts :( I can not tell you how my mood changed and how the negative body image and self talk in my head started immediately.

I found this quote this morning, and it really made me think. Losing weight is all about decisions. But guess what? So is everything else.

This quote is not only about losing weight. This quote is about loving yourself enough that you want to put 110% into everything that you do. That you take pride in the job that you have and the hard work that you have accomplished. That you work harder because you want to be a better version of yourself. This week and next, this will be my background on my phone.

As you go about your week, this about this quote. With it being the beginning of the new year, its a great time to change some things that you may have wanted to change for some time!

Friday Favorites and HELLO 2015!

Is it 2015 already? Holy schmoley! I can not believe how fast this past year has gone.

I can honestly say that this past year was one of the hardest in my life. Even though during the hard times I hated 2014, I can say that I am thankful for it. It helped change my views on certain things in life and I also had some great things happen as well.

Like getting engaged to my best friend! After being together for 5 years, you really get to know people. I can honestly say that this year will be great!

I would have to say that instead of doing a product or store for my Friday Favorites this wee, I will be doing my favorite moment. That would be the weekend of our engagement. We decided that Friday that we were going to go camping in the middle of a national forest with no real direction. We saddled up, grabbed our stuff and headed out to Steamboat Springs. When we got there, the place was absolutely gorgeous! After arriving into town we knew we had little amount of time until it got dark so we had to hurry and find a camping spot. Now if you do not know, where we went camping there was no designated areas for camping. It pretty much was find an opening and claim it! So after quite some driving, we found a place back into the woods, just off of the main road. We set up our tent and got a fire going. Let me tell you, the blankets I had DID NOT help with the immense cold that we experienced! The next day we went down into town for some breakfast and walking around. Then we decided to hit up some hot springs. If you have never been to one, I highly suggest it. The water went from cold to super hot and the nature around you is just magnificent. After that we headed back to the campsite where we roasted some brats on our grill, enjoyed the very large moon (it was 33% bigger than normal and lit up or whole campsite) and that's when Bill proposed. It was perfect. That is until some type of animal decided that it was time to freak us out, TWICE and then run away. All in all it was a perfect weekend.

Now onto 2015.

Yesterday Bill and I talked to each other about our New Years Resolutions. Now I usually set them and looking back, I couldn't tell you what they actually were (damn memory!). So this year I have decided to write them down in hopes of accomplishing (and remembering) them.

1. Be better with Bruce. This includes playing with him, cleaning up after him, refilling his water more often so it isn't so "stale" <-- in quotations because cats seem to like only fresh water

2. Blog more regularly. This blog was something that I thought of a year ago and finally got around to making later in the year. I want to change the layout when I find one that I actually like and keep my posts going.

3. Try and decide if I want to compete in a figure competition. Some of you may know this but most dont. I have thought about competing in a figure/bikini competition for years now. Just the strength and determination these people have is amazing. After following Mama Laughlin's blog about her journey and the things that she went through, it motivated me even more.

4. Make better decisions when eating and drinking. I love me some beer and fried food. But this year I want to make better decisions about this by really looking at what I am eating and how it is fuel for my body

5. Stay consistent with weight lifting. I am not athletic at all but the one thing I think I am good at is lifting weights. I think its because of the strength I see my self gain and watching my muscles grow.

6. Project 365. You can look this up and find tons of different way to do this project. I heard about it for the first time 2 years ago and ever since then I have wanted to participate. So this year, I am! I may be doing a weekly round up of pictures on here but am not sure yet. You can find out more about it here:

So those are my New Years Resolutions.

What are yours?
Do you make any resolutions?
