Workout Wednesday

Welcome back everyone! Hope your week has been splendid! I missed last week's update so I am going to recap both weeks today!

I can't believe we leave for Mexico in 3 days! I had a somewhat draft of last week's post so you will see that information below as well as this week's update.

Last week's recap:

last week's weight: 157.2 - another pound you guys! I am really proud of this number since it has taken me a hot minute to actually keep this number and not go back up to the 159s. My next hopeful goal is to hit 156!

I am still going for the 80+oz per day of water - I am still committed to working on this! I am hoping to also keep it up in Mexico since there may be a few lot of cocktails involved.

Eating whole foods with as little of processed food as possible - I am still working on this as well. Even though I was not feeling well, I went to Target yesterday and got a crap load of healthier food. I think I only got a couple of things from the middle isles. It's a little easier to shop for healthier stuff when you see progress!

Keep up with the Erin Stern program - For week 3 I actually started the Katy Hearn Winter Challenge. If you have been around awhile, you know that I have done a couple of these challenges. This one is a little different than the other ones that I have done but so far I am liking it!

Get as close to 10,000 steps as possible - I was not able to hit 10,000 at all this week. I strived for about 7,000 steps and I hit that goal 4 times..yay! I plan on keeping the 7,000 goal right now!

Another goal (not fitness related): I was able to find some good swimsuits from Target and a good coverup from Gordmans as well!

This week's recap:

Final weigh in before Mexico: 155.6 - wahoo! I have been pushing my workouts the last couple of weeks by lifting heavier and adding in some HIIT. Some on the treadmill, some on the stair stepper and some routines that I have just thrown together. I would say that I have left the gym still out of breath multiple times!

80oz of water - I would have to say that I haven't been hitting this mark as close as I wanted to. That being said, I still have been drinking water. I would say that I am at the 60oz-ish mark. I plan on soaking up all the water before heading out on Saturday!

Eating whole foods: I have been doing fairly good with this one as well! I am still being really conscious of the foods I am eating and different ways that I can either make them healthier and/or lower calorie/more dense. Last week I tried zucchini noodles for the first time. I cooked some chicken with a little Italian breadcrumbs and some pasta sauce. I sauteed the zoodles for just a couple of minutes before topping with a little chicken and pasta sauce. It was really good! I actually think I like them better than spaghetti squash!

Follow Katy Hearn Winter Challenge: I have been doing really well and have worked out 10 out of the last 11 days. When there is no workout planned for the day I just do some accessory work and some HIIT. Really it depends on how/what I am feeling that day. I am really liking this challenge so far. Katy decided to "take it back to the basics" and I really like that concept. Not everything has to be crazy or complicated in the gym. Sometimes you just need to do simple movements with mind connection to those muscles.

7,000 steps: I am still working on this goal for this week. I think I am actually going to be leaving behind my Fitbit for Mexico. It's just another thing that could get lost and I don't really need it down there. I don't want to worry about getting it in water either. The best place for it will be safely on my dresser.

As I stated before, I was able to find some cute swimsuits to add to my collection a couple of weeks ago. I haven't really been out again since we have been a little busy. I am going to run a couple of errands on Friday before packing so if I happen to come across another little number I like, I may just add it ;) I also ordered a couple of dresses from Amazon last night that are going to be here on Friday. So we shall see how that goes!

Some meals from the past 2 weeks:

Goals for Mexico:

Try and drink as much water as possible.

Workout at least 3 times.

Watch the food I eat and try to choose better options. But also splurge because, Mexico. Try to eat within reason is really what I am trying to say ha!

ENJOY IT!

Love you all! See you in a couple of weeks!

Weekend in Review | Family Holiday Party

Happy Monday everyone! Since I haven't done a weekend in review in quite  long time, I thought I would share our weekend with you all!

Since I don't work Fridays, my weekends start a little earlier than most!

Friday:

I dropped Mya off at the groomer and then headed over to get my oil changed and brakes checked. The oil change only took about 40 minutes so I was able to head out to do some errands before picking up the pup. We were able to reschedule our family holiday party for Saturday the 21st so I had some last minute things to pick up! I headed to Costco and a couple of other places before getting the call that little miss thang was ready!

She looks like a completely different dog after going to the groomers! We go to All 4 Dogs Grooming in Blaine, MN if anyone is interested!

After picking Mya up, I headed home to eat some lunch and prepare about 6.5 lbs of taco meat. We decided on a Mexican theme which included a taco bar and some enchiladas with refried beans and rice as the main meal. For apps, we had chips, salsa, veggies, taco dip and mini chicken quesadillas. The rest of Friday was a combination of the gym, a couple more errands and some cleaning.

Saturday:

My family was coming down from Fargo so we knew they had a little bit of a drive before they would get to our house. I got up around 8, pre-made the enchiladas ( so that all I had to do to serve was pour the sauce on and stick them in the oven) and then headed to the gym to get my sweat on. After that we got ready and started getting everything out. Everyone arrived around 1 pm and the part started ha! Although the time went really fast, we enjoyed it all! Everyone had a great time and by 10am we were all wiped out!

Sunday:

We got up and hung out for awhile before heading out for some breakfast. We decided on IHOP and considering I haven't been there in years, it was really good! After breakfast we said our goodbyes to my family and headed back home for some relaxing. Tacos were for lunch and I even had them for dinner again. We had so much meat left over that I ended up putting some in the freezer. I think that was the best idea since one person can only have so many tacos ha! Also, since we are heading to Mexico on Saturday, there is no way we would have been able to go through it all! In between lunch and dinner was a whole lot of nothing. I did get some pretty cute pictures of Ms. Mya though.

I should have gone to the gym/went tanning/gone through my things for Mexico but I guess the perks of having Fridays off is that this week is the same! So I'll get quite a bit of stuff done on Friday, I work better under pressure anyway :)

I'll be doing one last check in on Workout Wednesday (that will cover the last two weeks) before Mexico so I will see you then!

Workout Wednesday

Howdy everyone! Just wanted to pop in quick and let you know the fitness area of my life has been going.

18 days people, 18 days until we head to the beaches of Cancun, Mexico. I am being a savage and looking EVERYWHERE for new bathing suits. Since Victorias Secret no longer sells swimwear, I am having a super hard time. Haven't really had that much luck but I still have a little time. *have faith*

While the last two weeks went pretty well with all of my goal areas, this last week was a little bit of a struggle.

Starting weight: 159.2

Last week's weight: 158.2

Review of last week's goals:

I am still going for the 80+oz per day of water - I have been keeping up with this pretty well again. I feel a lot better with more water so that is my motivating factor here. It also helps with any bloating or feeling weird after eating certain (carby) foods. I was doing well with water until about Monday. I didn't get as much water down as I wanted but also started feeling sick Monday night. So yesterday (Tuesday) I didn't drink as much as I wanted to, even though I should have. I layed around all day to try and give my body some rest. I also got some more vitamins (since I was out) and some Vitamin B12. Both seemed to help me feel a little more like myself.

Eating whole foods with as little of processed food as possible - This I did pretty well on. Not 100% but I would say that it was about 70% which is way more than it was before. I have really been watching my portions as well. My motto "just because no one saw you eat it, doesn't mean that it doesn't count". This is huge for me!

Keep up with the Erin Stern program. I was doing really well with this one until Monday. I was really killing it in the gym and eating well. Once I started feeling sick and under the weather, the last thing that I wanted to do was go to the gym. It could have helped but I find that when I workout when feeling under the weather, I end up getting more sick and/or a migraine. Better to be safe than sorry!

Get as close to 10,000 steps as possible - GAH this one was not met at all really! the last time I hit 10,000 steps was last Wednesday :( Saturday I got over 7,000 steps which is pretty good! The rest of the days have just been sh*t. Especially since I was feeling under the weather.

This week's goals:

Current weight: 157.2 - another pound you guys!

Keep up with the Erin Stern program - I plan on hopping back on this train tonight. I really like the program and the increased strength that comes with it. I will say that I have been slacking on the abs part but with the compound movements involved in the training, I know they are still being worked somewhat. It also depends on the Anytime gym that I go to since each one has different equipment.

Get as close to 10,000 steps as possible - I am still working on this one but am thinking about 7,000 is going to be more attainable. I am thinking of setting a little reminder every hour to get up and move. Just to keep my body moving and blood flowing.

Another goal (not fitness related): find some good swimsuits!

Any suggestions on where to find some good swimsuits??

Workout Wednesday/Thursday

A little announcement: I am doing Project 365 again

this year. You may recall that I did this in 2015 and I really enjoyed being able to look at the photos last year. So if you are interested in checking out those photos as they happen, check out my Instagram: beazleygetsfit. I also plan on doing some blog posts about them as well!

The new year has got me all mixed up! I wanted this post to go live yesterday but it ended up not working out! So Here we go!

To catch up on last week's Workout Wednesday post, go here!

Review of last week's goals:

Starting weight: 159.2

Drinking 80+ oz of water. This is the water container that I use ( I have the blue one:)). It comes with a freezable insert that I only use sometimes. It definitely helps keep hydration up! -- I would say that I hit this one on most days. Around New Year's I think I didn't hit it but I have been trying to drink my big water bottle once a day. Then I get home and try to drink a little more.

Eating whole foods with as little of processed food as possible. -- I would have to say that I slacked a little bit on this one. I did do pretty good by limiting my out to eat sessions. Since I have a short week this week, I am hoping to getting back into meal prepping this weekend for next week!

Keep up with the Erin Stern program. This includes the cardio and abs part. On my days off, I may stay longer to put in more time as well in the form of walking or light jogging. -- This I HAVE been doing. I have been up with this program and have done each workout like it says. I make some modifications in the order depening on how busy the gym is. I support people 100% getting back to the gym for the new year, it just requires a little rearranging on my side.

cold doors in MN

This week:

Weight: 158.2. I am down one pound, wahoo! With New Years last weekend, this is definitely a plus. Just think what progress would have if I actually stopped cheating!! I am really trying to keep the thought that right now it will suck, but in Mexico and after that I can enjoy everything in moderation. It's just right now, we need to get healthy. While some most say to not be focused on the actual number, I am. For right now anyway. Until I can actually get my eating under control. I know the weight I feel my best at, so I am focused on that right now. I'm sure my goals will change, so please don't hate!

I am still going for the 80+oz per day of water. It can hugely affect how I feel and my workouts if I start slacking on water. How crazy is that?!

Eating whole foods with as little of processed food as possible -- still a part of my continuing goals. With New years last weekend, there was some processing chips and whatnot but it has mostly been not processed. Up until a couple of months ago, I hated zucchini. Any way you cooked it, I hated it. BUT I have had it in a couple of dishes and so far have been liking it. So I am kinda thinking of experimenting with some more veggies!

Keep up with the Erin Stern program. I am still working on this one as well. The Anytime Fitness located right by my house just opened up this week so now there really are no excuses!

showing off them bicep

Get as close to 10,000 steps as possible. Since I work at a desk job (and live in Minnesota) this is harder to accomplish. I plan on walking the steps at least once in the morning and once in the afternoon. That helps keep the blood flowing and the heart rate a little bump. BUT last night I checked out the new Anytime Fitness mentioned above and stayed after my actual workout to run to get to my 10,000. I might have walked out of there with my confidence a little higher than normal :)

24 DAYS UNTIL MEXICO!

See you all in the next blog post!
